How do I package my Inclusions?

Breast milk

All that is required is .75oz-1oz (22ml-30ml).

We recommend that you triple bag your milk, in order to avoid any possible leaks in your package. We accept frozen, expired, refrigerated, or fresh milk. Please do not worry about the temperature of your milk while in transit; the milk is not for consumption, so it does NOT need to stay cold.

Placenta Powder
1 capsule is all that is needed.
Please note - we do NOT work with raw or frozen placenta. The placenta should be sent to us in capsule form.

Umbilical Stump

Please only send one half of the stump.

The umbilical stump should be fully dried/dehydrated, if it isn't fully dehydrated it may increase your turn around time. We will have to let it dry out completely before we can preserve it for your keepsake.

Hair

About 1 inch in length and 0.5 inch in width is sufficient.

Please place the hair in a storage bag of any kind.

Ashes

1/2 teaspoon.

If your piece is large and requires more, I will inform you once your order is accepted. Any leftover ashes will be returned to you with your finished keepsake. You are encouraged to send your ashes in whatever way you feel most comfortable; please just ensure they are not loose in the envelope.

Flowers

This will vary from piece to piece.

We love preserving flowers; please contact us and we will let you know exactly what is needed.

Sand/Other

1/2 - 1 teaspoon will be sufficient.

If your piece is larger, it may require more and I will inform you once your order is accepted. Sand will need to be completely dry to preserve.

If you have any questions you are more than welcome to contact us.

How to SHIP your inclusion

Please refer to the list above on how to package your specific inclusion.

You are in charge of shipping your inclusions to Deep-Rooted Love.

Shipping costs for the return of your keepsake are decided at checkout.

Inclusions can be sent in any type of envelope - but ideally a bubble mailer is best.

You can ship your inclusions by letter mail, or tracked mail if you prefer.

Please remember to include your name and order number inside your envelope.

Once I receive your inclusion, an email is sent to you confirming the arrival.

If you live outside of Canada

Please do not send more than 1oz (30ml) of milk -  customs may flag it and hold it. Unfortunately we cannot not offer refunds if that happens.

You will need to fill out a customs form. Information to help fill out the customs form is included in your confirmation mail.

Shipping Policy

We ship via Canada Post, with all packages carefully wrapped and insured.
International Buyers are responsible for any and all Customs Charges, Taxes, and additional Postage and Handling Fees. Please check your country's Customs rules and regulations before ordering, as these charges are not included in price, should they occur.

We do not have the resources to follow up with every order to ensure it has been successfully delivered. When the order is shipped from our studio, you will receive an email with tracking information. Please check your spam folders in case you do not receive anything. If there is any damage to a keepsake due to shipping, please keep all shipping materials and contact Deep-Rooted Love within 24 hours.

Xpresspost Delivery Upgrade Option

Canada Post continues to have a higher volume of packages because of Covid-19. Packages that previously took 3-5 business days can take 10-15 business days. Because of this, Deep-Rooted Love offers an option to have your finished keepsake sent to you with Xpresspost Delivery Upgrade. This option does cost more, however most packages are delivered within 3-5 business days. If you did not choose this option at Checkout, and would like to upgrade to Xpresspost Delivery shipping, please email us as soon as you can to upgrade.

The address of where to ship your inclusion is listed in your order confirmation e-mail.  We do not post it publicly.

If you are unable to find your email, please contact us with your order information and we can provide it for you.

How to care for your keepsake

Cleaning your keepsake

Do not under any circumstances submerge the jewelry in any chemicals or cleaners, such as bleach, hydrogen peroxide, paint thinner, rubbing alcohol, etc. We include a cleaning cloth with each order - please use this cloth to keep your piece sparkling.

Water

We recommend that you remove any resin jewelry before taking a bath, shower, or even washing your hands. The pieces ARE water resistant, and some may be water proof (depending on if the process allowed for a top coat), however to ensure the longevity of your keepsake, we recommend you remove it prior to any water exposure.

Sunlight/Heat

Please store your piece out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will eventually cause the resin to discolour and soften.

Chemicals

Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaning products when wearing your keepsake. This would include (but not limited to) items such as; hair spray, lotion, perfume, hand sanitizer, and nail polish remover.

Product Disclaimer

All of our Breast Milk and DNA keepsake pieces are mixed with a high quality jewelers resin.

We use an in-depth preservation process when we receive your breastmilk, and while we cannot guarantee there won't be any discolouration, we have taken every step to hopefully avoid this from happening.

I began working on test pieces in the beginning of March 2020, and have had great results!

We strive to maintain that high level of trust and care we put into our products, and will do everything we can to ensure the quality of your keepsake.

Deep-Rooted Love's products are handcrafted one at a time, therefore it is very rare to create identical items. Variations may occur in the manufacturing of handmade products, as well as Breastmilk colour will vary from person to person - resulting in truly one-of-a-kind pieces.

The product images on Deep-Rooted Love's webpage may slightly differ from the product you receive. We do our very best to accurately display the colours of products. Actual colours may vary depending on your monitor.

Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in air and produce tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. Take steps to protect your sterling findings by keeping them in airtight packages, use tarnish-resistant products that absorb harmful chemicals, and store sterling findings in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.

**Please note when choosing plated keepsakes that plating is a thin layer of the colour metal that can tarnish over time (longevity is determined by how often the piece is worn, and how its cared for). This is something we cannot control as we do not manufacture the actual settings. When purchasing a plated setting please be mindful of this risk.**

Pearl Shimmers can appear different shades, depending on what you have mixed in with them, or what item it's set with.
This is because pearlescent pigments will absorb and reflect the colour they are set on. The darker the inclusion/keepsake, the more the pearlescent colour will shine through. You can see examples of this on our Options page. Feel free to reach out to us for more information.

Errors and inaccuracies

We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies, errors in pricing or availability, or omissions, and to change or update information at any time without prior notice.

Our Process

Once your breast milk arrives, we will begin to preserve it within a few days.

If there is any left over milk, it will be preserved and stored here for 1 year, should you wish to order down the road

There are many different methods that DNA Artisans use to create. My preservation time alone is 4 weeks. That timeframe is solely for the milk to preserve; so I can ensure to minimize any possibility of yellowing. Some businesses may offer a quick turn around time, but this may affect the quality of your inclusions and finished product. This type of keepsake requires time, patience, and a mastered technique that cannot be rushed to ensure it is created to last.

Some pieces require extra labour (meaning they may require sealant, or may require pouring multiple layers of your inclusion), and we pride ourselves in focusing and pouring love into each piece, as if it were our own.

Once your keepsake is complete, it is put through quality assurance to ensure it will last for years to come.
Each keepsake will be photographed before packaged.
